In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1975 (Act No.5 of 1967), the Lieutenant-Governor, Pondicherry , here-by directs that the tax specified in the schedule I to the said Act   payable in respect of any public carrier goods vehicles belonging to the states other than the union territory of   Pondicherry in pursuance of the National permit scheme of the Government of India, shall be[ Rs . 750/- (Rupees seven hundred and   fifty only) ?

The tax aforesaid shall be paid on or before the [ 31 st of March and 30th September ] of every year/or in two equal installments (the first installment before the 31 st of March every year for the period April to September and the second and the second installment before 30th of September of the currents financial year for the period October to March).

3 [ The tax on multi-axle vehicles shall be 25% (Twenty five per cent) less than the rate applicable for conventional two axle vehicles.   This concession shall be effective from the first day of January 1988.]

            In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (9f) of section 2 of the Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1967   (Act No.5 of 1967), the Lieutenant-Governor of Pondicherry hereby appoints the officers of the other states, who are authorized to collect Motor Vehicles Tax for vehicles covered by National permits in their respective States, to exercise the powers and perform the functions of Licensing Officers under the said act and to collect the tax under the National Permit scheme on behalf of the Union territory of Pondicherry in respect of public carrier goods vehicles which are authorized to ply in the limits of Union territory of Pondicherry in pursuance of the said scheme of   the Government of India.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 of the Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1967 (Act 5 of 1967 the Lieutenant-Governor of Pondicherry hereby orders that the tax to be collected in respect of public carrier vehicles covered by National Permit schemes shall be through Demand draft drawn in favor of the authorities authorized in this behalf.

The following Notifications shall be published in the next issue of the official (Extra-ordinary) Gazette:-

In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1967 (Act No.5 of 1967), the Administrator, Pondicherry hereby makes the following amendment to the Notification-I issued in G. O. Ms. No.32-Home ( Tr )/75, dated 31 st October, 1975 of the Home (Transport) Department, Pondicherry and Published in the Gazette No.48, dated 2nd December, 1975, namely:-

In paragraph 1 of the aforesaid notification

1.for the word “payable”, the words “payable as composite Tax” shall be substituted and

ii.   for the figures and words “ Rs . 750/- (Rupees seven hundred and
fifty only)”, the figures and words “ Rs . 1,500/- (Rupees one thousand and five hundred only)” shall be deemed to have been
substituted with effect from 1 st day of September, 1993.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 13 of the Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1967 (Act. No.5 of 1967), the Administrator, Pondicherry pleased to extend the time fixed for payment of second installment of Composite Tax Payable on or before 30th September, 1993 Upto 31st December, 1993 in respect of any Public Carrier goods vehicles belonging to the states other then the Union territory of Pondicherry which are authorized to pay in the union Territory of   Pondicherry in pursuance of the National Permit Scheme of the Government of India.

In paragraph 1 of the aforesaid notification for the word and figures “ Rs . 1,500 (Rupees one thousand and five hundred only)”, the word and figures “ Rs . 2,000 (Rupees two thousand only)” shall be deemed to have been substituted with effect from 1 st April 2002.
